I just brought some new stuff down to Topshop. For those who didn't know, yes, we have a concession in the Oxford Street shop. Anyway, I had to go by train/tube from Hackney Wick. Jems didn't want to drop me off by car as she had to go to the dentist, and I wasn't going to cough up for the ridiculous parking fares down that part of town. £2.80 it cost on my Oyster schmoyster card. One way!
So here is the thing. I know a lot of online retailers do offer the whole 'free worldwide shipping', but if I were to go to their concession/shop would their stuff be the same price as on their website? I am aware I may need to launch some hardcore empirical analysis to answer that (I will, and I will keep you updated). Our aim is, however, to make affordable, quality stuff from Italian leather in London with the clause of a fixed price, be it in our concession be it on the website. We are not into - are you ready for it? One of my favourite words - hoodwinking the good folk. Hence, if you buy something online there will be a small (and what we deem fair) shipping price. So in the UK you can get a bag delivered to your doorstep in, let's see, Leeds for shop-price plus £4 postage and packaging. If you get more things, we will put it all in the same package and it will still only be £4. For Europe, it is £8 per parcel and the rest of the world, £12.
I don't think you are going to find a return train-ticket from Leeds to Oxford Street in London for under £4, if you do please let me know as it is time I get back to that lovely city for a proper night out! So there you have it. We keep both concession and online prices of our stuff the same, which then means we need to add a shipping cost. This information is on the site here.
I will now pay another £2.80 to get back to the Wick. Ah well, say-la-vee!
