Don't have a cow, man!
To Jems, this is proper skateboarding jargon. Why? Because the closest she has gotten to hanging out with skateboarders was an episode of early 90s Simpsons. A time when little, yellow, spiky-head Bart rapped and more emphasis was put on his skating abilities by Matt Groening and the lads. And he used a lot of catchphrases, like, Eat my shorts! and Ay, caramba! Enough about that, right? Why the hell am I writing about skateboarding to begin with? Ah, right, because of a mix-up. Let me explain!
Next Sunday, the one on its way, the 22nd September, we will be setting up a small stall with a ball in the mall that will enthrall...mmm...one and all? - yeah, Bart, I can spit a rhyme or two. Or, in a simpler and more informative way, we will be pitching a rack and table, loaded with INMIY goodies, inside the courtyard of Vibe Bar in Brick Lane from 12pm - 11pm. We were invited by Digital Thrills, a collective of big beat DJs. They saw a smiley ruck-tote, got in touch and told us they organize, from time to time, events at Vibe Bar and get London brands in to show their wares. So, amongst beats and beers we will be there. Nice!
Now for the kind of mix-up, which isn't actually a mix-up but more of a merging of two events both listed for the same day and the same venue. Digital Thrills' event is from 5pm til 10.30pm but before that, starting at 12pm, is the Summer Skate Jam presented by Sampled, The Doctor's Orders & Red Bull.
The very nice people at Vibe Bar have suggested that we cover both events with our stall. That made us very happy. Especially because there will be a skate ramp set up, loads of skating brands at special prices (and us, of course), records on sale and other stuff to get you excited. The only downer, personally, is that I won't be able to make it. I will try my best but we will have the stand covered, so don't you worry. Therefore, what to say? If you are in London this Sunday, and you feel like a lazy Sunday in the mazy East End under the hazy skies (yes, Bart, I am a lyrical gangster!) why not pop by. We are at Vibe Bar, 91 Brick Lane. All day long!
p.s. I have told Jems that I would sort her out for skates, as yes she is getting a little flustered at the thought of getting close to the skating species. She trusts in me, and she shouldn't as I am sending these down for her great skating ramp debut!
